Spirit Cove Location
Spirit Cove is 13.5 miles from downtown Murphy, North Carolina, and 4 miles to Lake Hiwassee in the
Nantahala Forest. The Unaka Volunteer Department (fire and emergency response) is located 2 miles to the
west and Murphy Medical Center (regional hospital and medical offices) is 18 miles.

Murphy North Carolina
Murphy, North Carolina, is located "two hours from anywhere," and "a day's drive from half of the
USA." It's a great little town that serves as the county seat for Cherokee County. It has a delightful
downtown with restaurants, country stores, antiques, a coffee house/wine shop, herbal essences, pharmacies,
and churches old and new.
A day trip to Asheville, Atlanta, or Chattanooga
Murphy is located on the Hiwassee River and has a small park and recreation area for public enjoyment
of the riverfront. It is known for good schools and medical services and has an Ingles Grocery, Wal-Mart
and a new Lowes. Tri-County Community College is located in nearby Peacetree.
A new Wellness Center, opened June 2007 provides an array of swimming and workout options.

There are a number of nearby recreational opportunities - too numerous to list. A few notables include
the world famous John C. Campbell Folk School,
white-water rafting at the Nantahala Outdoor Center or
Ocoee River,

Hiwassee Lake, Fontana Lake,
Great Smoky Mountains Railroad rides,
horseback riding, and llama treks,
to name a few. In addition, there are a number of music, craft and heritage festivals throughout the year.
In 2005, Murphy was listed in Forbes Magazine as being number six in the top ten list of developing markets for
second home nationwide.
